Celtic’s win over St Mirren has been overshadowed by two big headlines in the media this week.

Brendan Rodgers’ post-match Celtic comments have caused a bit of a stir as the Hoops boss shared his annoyance with the fans’ criticism of the team and apparent disrespect for fullback, Greg Taylor.

The Celtic gaffer said the supporters showed disrespect to Taylor after the fans sang about Kieran Tierney with speculation linking a Bhoys return reached a fever pitch last week.

Celtic fans responded to Rodgers’ comments with a mixed verdict on the comments but the manager certainly has caused a stir.

The other big headline that overshadowed the result was the Celtic Park power outage that affected VAR and the live TV broadcast from inside the stadium.

The momentary power cut caused the Celtic TV broadcast to go down and to make it up to the fans, the club have delivered a brilliant gesture to the Hoops support.

Celtic deliver 50% pay-per-view discount vs Dundee United

In a statement released on Celtic’s official website, the club said, “Following Sunday’s power outage in the wider Parkhead area of Glasgow that caused disruption to normal matchday services inside Celtic Park, the club has assessed the effect this had on Celtic TV’s Pay-Per-View broadcast of the game against St Mirren.

“We acknowledge that, unfortunately, the power outage resulted in a loss of pictures and audio for part of the second half’s live coverage.

“While the cause of the disruption was entirely outwith the control of the club, in light of these circumstances, Celtic will be reducing the previously advertised Pay-Per-View pricing by 50% for the forthcoming game against Dundee United at Celtic Park this Wednesday, January 8.

“We hope that this discount will enable supporters who can’t make it to Celtic Park to enjoy the full game at home at a reduced price of £5.99 as a token of appreciation for your support on Sunday.

“Celtic TV subscribers in the UK and Ireland will receive a discounted rate of £4.99, which will be automatically applied at checkout.

“We would like to take the opportunity to thank you once again for your ongoing support and understanding related to this issue.”

How Celtic can pile more misery on Rangers this week

Celtic have the opportunity to put Rangers under more pressure this midweek if they beat Dundee United in their next fixture tomorrow night.

A win at Celtic Park would take Brendan Rodgers’ side 16 points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership table which puts Rangers under more pressure.

Why? Well, Philippe Clement’s side doesn’t play until Thursday night. Knowing that anything but a win in Tayside against Dundee will ensure Celtic stretch their lead at the top of the table further which will then raise more questions on the Ibrox gaffer and his team.
