Celtic are to host AC Milan in a pre-season friendly at Parkhead, it is being reported.

The Serie A giants will travel to Glasgow on July 25th for the first of Celtic’s pre-season fixtures to be confirmed.

The game will be played on the weekend prior to the opening match of the Scottish Premiership season, due to take place on the first weekend in August.

As things stand, we don’t know who the manager will be for either of the two sides.

Celtic to face AC Milan on July 25th

According to Gazzetta Dello Sport, the friendly fixture will be played in Glasgow on July 25th. This is six days after the World Cup final.

Celtic fans are currently awaiting news on the manager front, with Martin O’Neill and Robbie Keane in a straight shootout.

Recent reports have named Keane as Dermot Desmond’s favoured candidate.

Massimiliano Allegri has left Milan after a disastrous end to the season saw them win just two of their last eight games and drop out of the Champions League spaces on the final day.

Arne Slot and Oliver Glasner are the current two frontrunners to replace him, after talks with Andoni Iraola failed. Ralf Rangnick is also in talks to join the club in an upstairs role.

Of course, Milan continue to be linked with Arne Engels, creating the possibility that the game could be an instant return to Glasgow for the Belgian midfielder.

It remains to be seen whether or not the game is included as part of fans’ season tickets, for which the renewal deadline has now passed.

Last summer, the Hoops’ pre-season home friendly was against Newcastle United; Brendan Rodgers’ men ran out 4-0 winners in Glasgow.

They have faced Milan no less than eight times in the 21st century, most memorably in back-to-back high-profile Champions League meetings in 2006 and 2007.

The sides last met in the 2020-21 Europa League behind closed doors, Celtic lost home and away,
