There were many moments in Celtic’s win over Newcastle that stood out for the fans.
Probably the biggest one was Nick Pope’s error that led to Celtic’s second goal in the win over Eddie Howe’s side.
However, there were some good individual performances at Celtic Park tucked in there as well.
Hoops defender Auston Trusty was solid as he was given the captain’s armband for a spell in the game and Celtic striker Johnny Kenny had a very good game as he terrorised the Newcastle defence.
But it was none of these things that made BBC presenter George O’Neill explain why the Celtic result sent him ‘shockwaves’.

Reviewing the weekend’s Premier Sports Cup action, O’Neill took a break from that to speak about Celtic beating Newcastle and pointed to what ‘stands out’ about the result.
O’Neill told The Scottish Football Podcast [11m 45s], “I think we’ll move on now to non-competitive games, but there was sort of shockwaves that went around, certainly when I saw that Celtic had beat Newcastle 4-0.
“Can you read too much into friendly wins like that? I think it’s the score line that stands out.
“When you see Celtic have beaten Newcastle, who are going into big European competitions, by that margin. It’s impressive.”
Benjamin Nygren endears himself to Celtic fans
Benjamin Nygren also got his Celtic Park debut in the win but what he did before and after the game will only raise his already soaring popularity with the Hoops support.
The Swede even took time to speak to a couple of young Celtic supporters.
Nygren certainly looks set to become a firm favourite with the Celtic fans this season.
