The next ten days are going to be huge for Celtic and Brendan Rodgers.
It starts with Celtic hosting Sturm Graz in the Europa League, searching for their first win in Europe, and then it’s that top-of-the-table tussle at Tynecastle against Hearts.
Celtic then host newly-promoted Falkirk in midweek, before the blockbuster showdown at Hampden against Rangers in the League Cup semi-final.
That’s why Rodgers must manage Alistair Johnston’s situation as well as possible following his return from the treatment room.

Alistair Johnston’s return for Celtic against Sturm Graz
Anthony Ralston and Colby Donovan have filled in at right-back during Johnston’s spell on the sidelines, and Charlie Mulgrew is delighted that he is back.
Speaking on Go Radio, Mulgrew says Johnston’s return will provide a ‘great lift’ to Rodgers because of the quality he brings to the right flank.
“Johnston has been a big miss,” said Mulgrew. “But Johnston coming back is a great lift. He (Donovan) was never going to be ahead of Johnston.
“Johnston is a top, top fullback. He will be a great help to the squad. He makes runs forward and is a real attacking threat, as well as a very good defender.”
Johnston’s Celtic record since joining from the MLS
Johnston is an underrated figure in this Celtic side, and another top purchase from the Ange Postecoglou era.
The Canadian international moved to Glasgow from MLS side CF Montreal in 2023 for £3.5 million, and has continued to wear the famous green and white colours with pride.
