It’s all change at left-back for Celtic and Brendan Rodgers this summer.
Football can be a funny game because, when Kieran Tierney left Celtic for Arsenal in 2019, the man who walked through the door was Greg Taylor from Kilmarnock.
Yet it’s amazing that, as soon as Tierney returns home in 2025, Taylor has left and opted against extending his contract with the champions of Scotland.
It remains to be seen if Taylor made the right call to leave, but Hugh Keevins thinks he will already know the answer to that.

Greg Taylor has ‘done the right thing’ by leaving Celtic
Before Celtic thrashed Newcastle United in a pre-season friendly over the weekend, Tierney conducted a press conference.
Yes, over in Portugal, Tierney donned the green and white colours again, but this presser was for the 28-year-old’s homecoming.
Speaking on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard, Keevins thinks Taylor would have watched that press conference and thought, ‘I have done the right thing’, leaving because he would have played ‘second fiddle.’
“You can understand now that Greg Taylor has looked at the situation,” said Keevins. “If Greg looked in on Kieran Tierney’s press conference, he would think to himself, ‘I have done the right thing.’
“Celtic are getting the great Celtic man back. And, ‘I was always going to be second fiddle.’
“So, I think Greg Taylor, who apparently has started very well at PAOK in Greece. I think Greg Taylor has looked after Greg Taylor.”
Taylor is already getting plaudits at PAOK
Celtic fans will be watching on with interest as Taylor begins a new chapter in his career because he will be playing for one of Greece’s top clubs in PAOK.
Let’s be honest, Taylor divided opinion in Glasgow, especially in his final campaign, so it will be interesting to see how he is viewed by their fans.
It’s still early days, but Taylor is already getting his flowers, and it is great to hear.
PAOK manager Razvan Lucescu stated, as quoted by Glasgow Times: ‘Greg Taylor is just a super player, and we also have Jonjoe Kenny, who showed a lot of intensity and energy. They both showed they will be very comfortable in our team, and both already looked at home.
“Both of them have fitted in well to the team, and I am happy with their preparations for our first game of the season. There is still a lot of work to be done to prepare, but I am very pleased with the way the players have adapted to their new club. They will be big players for us this season.”
