Celtic still hold an interest in Arsenal left-back Kieran Tierney.

But, as of this moment, he is still donning Arsenal colours, as those from Glasgow wait patiently to see if he will re-join his boyhood club.

Tierney left Celtic for Arsenal in 2019 to try and test himself in the best league in the world.

Nobody is going to argue that his talents aren’t worthy of such a big stage because he has more than shown that he belongs at such a level.

But, in recent years, the Scotland star has fallen down the pecking order under Mikel Arteta, including suffering untimely injuries, like the one for his country at Euro 2024.

Tierney only returned to action last month and started Arsenal’s League Cup quarter-final win over Crystal Palace – it was his first appearance for the London club in 19 months after being out on loan last season.

Since then, he has been an unused substitute by his manager, before Tierney was used during Arsenal’s FA Cup defeat to Manchester United on Sunday.

Kieran Tierney given raucous reception by Arsenal fans as Celtic interest hovers

Even though Tierney has been away from the Arsenal limelight of late, he still hasn’t been forgotten about and is still well-regarded by those who pay their tickets at the Emirates.

Barry Ferguson noted the reception Tierney got when he came onto the pitch in extra-time and how the Celtic legend is a ‘fan favourite’ in north London, as he told Go Radio.

The former midfielder stated that he ‘isn’t surprised’ that there is interest from the likes of Celtic in his signature.

“I was watching the Arsenal and Manchester United game, he came on towards the end,” said Ferguson. “The reception he got. It was (what a reception).

“Clearly, the Arsenal fans like him. I know he has had his injuries and he has been out on loan. But he is clearly a fan favourite down there.

“I am not surprised there is interest in him. The only issue that Kieran has got is game time over the last couple of seasons. He has picked up some pretty bad injuries. We have said it countless times on this show. Kieran Tierney is a quality player.”

Tierney’s cameo appearance against Manchester United sparks an interesting reaction

He was only on the pitch for around seven minutes against Manchester United, but his cameo appearance sparked an interesting reaction.

Even after only being on the pitch for a small period of time, Arsenal fans were bigging up Tierney and how he is their best crosser of the ball.

Tierney only put in one cross, and in a game where Arsenal struggled to score more than one goal against ten men, that cross was deemed better than anything any of his teammates produced.
