Celtic told what would happen next season if Rangers sacked Philippe Clement

Celtic are dancing towards another Premiership title.

When Brendan Rodgers returned to Glasgow last summer, it was an interesting return for the Irishman because of how he initially left in 2019, but he won back the critics by securing the double.

Things have gone far better this season, Celtic beat Rangers in the League Cup final last month and are now 15 points clear at the top of the table.

Meanwhile, over at Ibrox, Rangers fans are deciding whether or not to walk out during their game against St Johnstone on Sunday.

Philippe Clement might still be celebrating his only win over Celtic, but the supporters are divided as to whether or not to back their manager.

That’s because the powers that be at Rangers – new CEO Patrick Stewart – have decided to give Clement the backing.

Whoever Rodgers and Celtic face next season, Andy Walker was pretty blunt about what will happen.

Celtic told Rangers won’t challenge for the title next season

Rodgers has seen through many Rangers managers and you sense one is due because it won’t be too long before Clement is out of the door.

Celtic’s performance at Ibrox was a disaster, but one good thing to come out of it was the fact that everyone can continue to watch the comedy club from across the road with Clement still in charge.

You felt it at the time, and it’s proven to be the case since, that it was a fluke win for the Gers and Celtic will put things right in the next meeting.

But Andy Walker made it clear that, if there is a new Rangers manager facing Celtic next season, he still won’t challenge the champions for the title, as he told Go Radio.

The former striker highlighted Celtic’s genius with transfers and how they have always brought in players who provide them ‘more value for money’.

“They have spent a fair bit of money and, at one stage, last season, they had the biggest wage bill in Scotland,” said Walker. “Even bigger than Celtic’s.

“But Celtic are getting more value for money. I think my point was that Rangers aren’t getting the value for money. They are going to all these away grounds and they can’t win. I do think they have to get the foundations right.

“This new manager who is going to come in. I think it’s highly unlikely you are going to get a Rangers team that are going to challenge Celtic for the title next season. The idea of waiting a decade, I am not buying into that, things can change quite quickly. But with Celtic having a proven manager, someone who has brought them enormous success before, the fact that he’s been able to spend a bigger amount of money than previous Celtic managers have. I think that can only be encouraging for every Celtic supporter.”

Clement waffles post-match as Celtic march closer to the title

You have to laugh because Rangers just don’t stop providing the entertainment, as Rodgers sits down with a cigar in hand.

After Celtic put four goals past Ross County on Saturday, those from Ibrox, even after winning over St Johnstone, couldn’t help but still embarrass themselves.

There was a staged protest from the fans and Clement came out post-match by claiming that he ‘felt alone in the desert’, as he told Sky Sports.

“I hear in that moment a lot of fans supporting the team,” responded Clement to Rangers fans leaving in the 55th minute. “So, I am focused on that. I understand that fans aren’t happy with the away record, me neither.

“It has been six months and seven months that I felt alone in the desert with a lot of things.”
