Celtic fans are yet to hear from Brendan Rodgers following his exit last month.

This wasn’t any normal departure. It never is when it comes to Celtic, but how Dermot Desmond led Rodgers out on that unforgettable and drama-filled Monday evening will never be forgotten.

Desmond verbally mauled Rodgers, and now many are wondering what the Irishman will do next and how long it will be before he ends up in the dugout again.

One thing is for sure: Rodgers won’t be coaching another team in Scotland again.

Brendan Rodgers’ next job after Celtic exit?

Atalanta recently sacked their manager, Ivan Juric, and given that the failed Southampton boss got that gig, Mark Guidi questioned why a man of the calibre of Rodgers couldn’t also earn that job.

Since then, the Serie A side, who played Celtic in the Champions League last season, have brought in Raffaele Palladino as their new coach.

Speaking on Go Radio, Guidi told Celtic supporters that Rodgers ‘harbours’ a management gig abroad, and the top-tier of Spanish football ‘floats his boat.’

“I think maybe he would feel, given that he wouldn’t manage anywhere else in Scotland,” said Guidi.

“He has had a few really good jobs down south. I know he is fluent in Spanish. I think he also speaks Italian. He maybe harboured one day that he would work abroad. I think La Liga floats his boat.

“I think, whether it’s Saudi Arabia or whether it’s La Liga. I think he will pop up somewhere.

“With the greatest of respect. You see, Atalanta sacking Juric, who made an absolute ricket of it when he was the manager of Southampton last season. Yet, he could go and get the job at Atalanta, so why can’t Brendan Rodgers pick up a job like that? He certainly has got the ability to do it.”

Rodgers’ managerial career in numbers

It started with Chelsea reserves, when a young, fresh and peak Jose Mourinho brought Rodgers to the London club.

After struggling in his two opening gigs – Watford and Reading – the 52-year-old soon found his feet at Swansea City, including helping them earn promotion to the Premier League.

That road then led to Rodgers becoming Liverpool boss, and after narrowly missing out on ending the Reds’ near three-decade wait for a Premier League title, his legendary stint at Celtic began.

Of course, Rodgers made the mistake of going to Leicester City, but he soon made up for it by returning to Celtic, and now the next challenge awaits.
