Celtic’s win against Aberdeen was well-deserved and showed bottle from a team that had clearly been lacking in confidence.
Wilfried Nancy was under serious pressure heading into the game but had to watch his Celtic team beat Aberdeen after they spurned chance after chance to bury the Pittodrie club.
When Kenan Bilalovic equalised for 10-men Aberdeen, the knives were figuratively being sharpened for the Celtic boss even though the Bhoys played Jimmy Thelin’s Dons off the park.
However, late goals from Kieran Tierney and James Forrest earned Nancy his first win as the Celtic manager and the club’s Unique Angle captures a special moment between the defender and the Hoops boss, fans might have missed.

Wilfried Nancy and Kieran Tierney bond after crucial Celtic goal vs Aberdeen
Celtic attacked Aberdeen for the whole 94 minutes of the Parkhead game as Nancy’s team showed resilience, tenacity and a frustrating knack for missing easy chances.
However, just when it looked like Celtic were about to drop another two points, Tierney popped up in the 88th minute to put Nancy on his way to his first victory in five games.
Have a watch of the Celtic manager’s touchline reaction:
It doesn’t appear that the Celtic players don’t want to play for Wilfried Nancy. This is a nice wee moment.
The relief of the player was matched by the happiness of Nancy as he and Tierney enjoyed a fist-pump in recognition of the magnitude of the goal.
Celtic’s unreal attacking stats vs Aberdeen
The Celtic win had almost everything as Nancy’s team battered Aberdeen’s door down in every minute of the match at Parkhead.
The scoreline didn’t do the performance justice as some of the attacking stats show:
- Shots on goal: 31
- Shots on target: 10
- Big chances: 7
- xG: 4.53
- Hit woodwork: 5
- Touches in opposition box: 60
It does look like Nancy’s style is starting to come together even though Celtic still look fragile at the back. Hopefully, this performance is backed up in the next two games against Livingston and Motherwell to boost the players’ confidence ahead of the big Glasgow Derby at the New Year.
