Many Celtic fans are not looking forward to the Glasgow Derby fixture vs Rangers this New Year.

After watching Wilfried Nancy record his fifth defeat in Celtic’s loss at Motherwell, the general consensus is that under the manager’s system, the Bhoys will struggle in the Glasgow Derby.

Celtic have conceded 16 goals in Nancy’s short tenure as the Hoops boss struggles to get his 3-4-3 system to deliver consistent results and performances.

With Rangers now just three points behind Celtic in the Scottish Premiership table, Rangers could leapfrog Nancy’s Celtic with a big win at Parkhead.

And delivering their predictions for the New Year derby, only one out of Chris Sutton, Kris Boyd and Steven Naismith has tipped Celtic to beat Rangers at Parkhead.

Steven Naismith tips Celtic win vs Rangers as Sutton and Boyd deliver verdicts

With two ex-Rangers players and one former Celtic striker on the panel, Hoops fans would have expected Sutton to back his old club to beat Rangers, right?

Not this time as Naismith told The Warm Up, “I think Celtic will win it. It will be 2-0.”

Reacting to the result, Sutton said, “Well, the one prediction, the result, it will never be 0-0. I’ll go 4-4. I don’t know.

“It could be 5-5. I honestly don’t know.”

Boyd, as usual, predicts a Rangers win and said, “2-1 Rangers. Celtic to get a goal back late on with Rangers two up.”

Sutton: “But they still can’t win the league?”

Boyd: “Well, they can’t. Not for me. Not for me.”

The last ten results from Celtic Park fixtures vs Rangers bode well for the Bhoys

Celtic have, in general, been the dominant side in this fixture over the last 13 years. Since 2012, the Hoops have dished out some serious beatings to the Ibrox club.

With the game being played at Celtic Park, supporters will be confident that a hostile home crowd could inspire a win this weekend.

So, with that in mind, here is how the last ten Glasgow Derbies in the Scottish Premiership at Celtic Park have fared:

Six wins out of ten with just two losses is a decent record. Interestingly, the defeats came when there was nothing really on the line for Celtic.

Hopefully, there are enough players in the current Celtic team hurting enough from the last Parkhead defeat to put it right this Saturday to win the first derby of 2026.
