Celtic women made a statement of intent in their Scottish Cup victory against Dunfermline while Wilfried Nancy watched his new side lose.

Nancy lost his first game as the new Celtic boss as the Hoops were beaten 2-1 in a top of the table clash against Hearts.

It leaves them three points behind Derek McInnes’ side, but they do have a game in hand, so can move level if they win that.

Criticism of Nancy has been heated to say the least, but the Frenchman could learn a thing or two from Elena Sadiku’s team.

While the Bhoys failed to turn up in their huge game, the Ghirls showed everyone how it was done.

They were easily the standout performers of the day in the Women’s Scottish Cup as they ran out as 14-0 winners.

Chloe Craig was the star of the show as she returned to action following a 464-day spell on the sidelines with injury, scoring in the process.

Elsewhere, Saoirse Noonan bagged four first-half goals, which included a 10-minute hat-trick, to take home the match ball.

Amy Gallacher also scored a hat-trick as Celtic women went into half-time 9-0 up before adding another five to the tally after the break at New Douglas Park.

On the men’s side of the game, Celtic’s biggest win of all time came in 1895 against Dundee.

The Hoops battered them 11-0 in a dominant display, but that has now been blown out of the water by Celtic women.

As for the women, their 14-0 victory is a new record after they previously put 13 past Aberdeen on 26 November 2023.
