Filip Skorb has become the latest Celtic academy talent to leave the club after announcing his move to Lecce.
The young Polish U19 international was linked to a move to the Serie A this week as Skorb looked to take the next step in his career.
Taking to Instagram, Skorb confirmed that his Celtic spell was over. The striker will now join Lecce’s Primavera 1 squad and continue his development in Italy.
What’s the point of Celtic’s Academy?
Should Celtic just give it up as the club seem incapable of making the Academy work.
Filip Skorb confirms Celtic departure after Lecce move
Skorb shared his delight at the Lecce move with a simple message on the social media channel.
He was congratulated by his former Celtic B teammates Josh Mulgrew, Kayden Daly and Ethan Clearie.
Lecce announced the transfer on their official website as they outlined the plan to integrate Skorb into their Primavera 1 squad.
Celtic prospect takes his next step with Lecce
Skorb joined Celtic back in 2023 from Portobello Football Academy after being tracked by the likes of Leeds United, Newcastle and a short trial at Rangers.
The talented striker made 30 appearances for Celtic B, scoring seven goals. Skorb has also represented Scotland and Poland at youth level.
It is too early to say whether Skorb will become another academy player Celtic regret losing.
However, his move to an established Italian development system will again raise questions about how young players can see a route from the Celtic B team into the senior squad.
