Adam Idah put in a starring show against Aston Villa on Wednesday evening.

The Irishman might have had critics this season but he was Celtic‘s man of the hour at Villa Park in their Champions League clash.

Manager Brendan Rodgers has always applauded Idah‘s contributions even if his performances have not always brought the goals and assist statistics the likes of an outgoing Kyogo might have.

Yet the player has never lost his confidence as was shown when he banged in two brilliant efforts to haul the game back to 2-2 before Ollie Watkins missed a controversial penalty ahead of finally scoring and Morgan Rogers sunk a hat-trick.

Adam Idah scored the first away Champions League goal at Aston Villa this season

Rogers was stunned by the Celtic support down south and the atmosphere created and that could potentially have had something to do with Idah break a record, of sorts, this season at the home of the Premier League outfit.

Unai Emery’s Villa had not conceded in the competition at home throughout the entirety of the newly revamped League Phase.

The likes of superstar strikers in Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane, Juventus attackers Teun Koopmeiners and Timo Weah and others had failed to find the net at Villa Park up until Celtic came to town.

Idah‘s first goal was made by Greg Taylor down the left-hand side with Stiliyan Petrov reserving special praise for the Scotland defender.

Idah kick-started his Celtic season with Villa brace

Idah had to manipulate his hips to fire home the volley which was the first away UCL goal scored in the West Midlands this season.

But less than a few minutes later the 23-year-old former Norwich City forward had done it again after some delightful play from Arne Engels found Reo Hatate who slid Idah in to sweep home past World Cup-winning goalkeeper Emi Martinez.

If that is not a way to kickstart a season, we at 67 Hail Hail don’t know what is.

Idah spoke at full-time of his delight while Rodgers also had his say on the hitman hitting the goal trail again.
