Celtic winger, James Forrest turned the Aberdeen fixture on its head after coming on as a second-half substitute to inject some life into the Parkhead club at Hampden.

Despite scoring, Celtic still drew the game 3-3 but went through to the final after winning 6-5 on penalties.

This game is widely regarded as one that sparked Celtic’s season and inspired the league and Scottish Cup double win over Rangers.

Heading into the final Scottish Premiership derby of the season, the league was finely balanced with Celtic on top with just a three point margin.

Glasgow Derbies are always tight affairs and with the league title riding on this game the pressure was on both Celtic and Rangers to get a result.

Celtic beat Rangers 2-1 in a game where John Lundstram was sent off just before half-time just after Rangers pulled a goal back from being 2-0 down.

With just two games left to play and with a seven goal advantage, this was the result that secured Brendan Rodgers’ third title as the Celtic boss.

The pain of losing the league title to Celtic was still raw with the Rangers support and they saw the Scottish Cup as a chance to redeem that disappointment by sealing a cup double.

Many Celtic fans may regard the 5-1 hammering of Slovan Bratislava as one of the best results of 2024, but for us, this result edges that.

After Cetlic suffered a heavy 7-1 defeat at Borussia Dortmund, there was fear and trepidation heading to the current Europa League winners’ ground.

Atalanta were free-scoring in the Serie A and Celtic’s poor record away in the Champions League was still haunting the club.

However, the Bhoys put on a defensive masterclass as Celtic drew with Atalanta and this result gave the team renewed confidence that they can compete with Europe’s best on foreign soil.

Champions League: Celtic 3 v RB Leipzig 1

The next big Champions League test after Atalanta was German Bundesliga second-placed side, RB Leipzig.

Celtic had faced Leipzig on four occasions prior to this game and had one just once. After going behind in the first half, the Bhoys rallied and taught the German side a serious footballing lesson.

A double from Nicolas Kuhn and a goal from Reo Hatate ensured Celtic beat RB Leipzig to record their second Champions League win of the season and put Rodgers on course to qualify from the league phase for the first time since 2013.

This was the biggest game in the two clubs’ history. Equal on trophy count, whoever won the Scottish League Cup could be officially crowned Scotland’s most successful club.
