Celtic's latest signing Joey Dawson comes from a football mad family
The 18-year-old has joined from Scunthorpe United on a three-year deal and will join the Reserves squad ahead of the new season.
Dawson will have his eyes set on making the first-team cut at Celtic, and he has plenty of family role-models to help him through.
His father is Andy Dawson – the former defender who played over 300 times for Hull City between 2003 and 2013.
Dawson finished his career at Scunthorpe in 2015 and has been their caretaker manager on two occasions as well.
Joey Dawson also has two footballing uncles
And the family football connections don’t stop there for young Joey.
He has two former footballing uncles. Kevin Dawson had a decent career in the lower leagues of English football, while Michael Dawson was a regular in some good Tottenham Hotspur sides between 2005 and 2014.
Michael earned four caps for England and won both the League Cup and Championship Play-Offs at Wembley in a career that most would be proud of.
It is interesting to note that Celtic’s latest recruit is an attacker – in stark contrast to his dad and two uncles.
Maybe we’ll see the Dawson clan up at Parkhead very soon.
