Charlie Adam cries about Celtic transfers after embarrassing Rangers and Philippe Clement excuse

The gulf in class, quality and everything else couldn’t be bigger between Celtic and Rangers.

Whether it’s Brendan Rodgers in his first Celtic spell, or upon his return, he continues to do what he does best and that’s deliver trophy after trophy in Scotland.

In truth, other than that COVID season under Steven Gerrard, Rangers have looked, felt and played like the same old same old with Rodgers on the other side of the dugout.

The Celtic manager has seen through more Rangers managers than Cyriel Dessers has missed clear-cut chances.

And, given how Philippe Clement is going right now, then it wouldn’t be a surprise if another Rangers manager bites the dust sooner rather than later.

Celtic are nine points clear of Rangers, but Charlie Adam seems to have come up with an excuse as to why that is.

Charlie Adam uses Celtic as an example amid Rangers’ mess

There is no doubt that Rodgers has signed who he has wanted and it has resulted in the team continuing to fly.

From Nicolas Kuhn’s arrival to Kasper Schmeichel replacing the retired Joe Hart, the powers that be at Parkhead have been smart and it has worked.

All on the top of Matt O’Riley leaving Celtic for Brighton this summer, yet it hasn’t affected the club’s performances on the pitch.

Charlie Adam rightfully stated that Celtic have signed players that ‘Brendan wants’, but don’t make out as if Rangers haven’t done the same with their manager.

From Mohamed Diomande to Nedim Bajrami, around £8 million has been spent on those players alone, yet Rangers seem to get worse and are nowhere near the champions of Scotland.

So, Adam can cry all he wants on PLZ Soccer about Celtic’s transfers and use excuse after excuse for Clement, the simple truth is that there is a nine-point lead at the top and it’s only likely to get bigger.

What’s even more embarrassing is that the former midfielder has suggested a lack of stability in the Ibrox boardroom is a reason for their struggles and how ‘you have businesses to run so that will affect what’s going on’.

“It’s important now that they get a chairman sorted,” said Adam about Rangers in the boardroom. “Maybe a sporting director if that’s the way they want to go. Then there is a focal point for somebody and a contact for somebody that we know the club is going to be stable, in terms of this is the person who is going to run the club on a day-to-day basis.

“The big thing is that the people that are in charge, you have businesses to run, so that will affect what’s going on. Philippe Clement needs someone who he can have a point of contact with and he can speak to on a regular basis.

“We have seen it with Celtic over the last couple of years about signing players, winning football matches and getting to the Champions Leagues. Then signing the players that Brendan wants. Then the noise disappears, it’s important that Philippe does that as well. He needs to win more football matches and if he does that, then it will be a little easier.”

Celtic and Rangers facts

Take away all the excuses and look at the simple facts. Celtic outclassed Rangers the last time they met and they also dispatched them in the cup final last season.

All whilst remaining unbeaten against Rangers – home and away – upon Rodgers’ return last summer.

Fast forward to the present and the Bhoys are nine points clear at the top of the table, with Aberdeen the ones providing the title challenge.
