Chris Sutton addresses Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic future after he was linked with a return back to the Premier League.
Rodgers is under pressure after Celtic’s defeat at Dundee highlighted the deficiencies in the team’s attacking areas.
Failing to score again for the sixth time this season, Celtic look bereft of ideas up top with Rodgers cutting a sombre figure on the touchline.
And after Rodgers was linked with the then vacant Nottingham Forest job last weekend, Sutton addressed those rumours before Celtic’s Dens Park loss.

Chris Sutton says Brendan Rodgers will leave Celtic at the end of the season
Rodgers is yet to be offered a contract extension at Celtic and, in truth, it’s unlikely to happen now.
And after hearing the Forest rumours, Sutton shares his ‘view’ on what will happen with Rodgers and Celtic this season.
Sutton told Sky Sports, “I mean, my view is Brendan will be off at the end of the season, whether it’s back to the Premier League or wherever.
“But when he does leave, he’ll want to leave on a high and want to leave with another league title. The team haven’t performed well.”
Sutton ‘not sure’ if Celtic can beat Hearts at Tynecastle
Now, bear in mind these were Sutton’s words before Celtic lost to Dundee, but the former Hoops striker cast doubt on his old side beating Hearts at Tynecastle on Sunday.
Sutton continued, “They’ve been really slow starters this season. “So, he’ll [Rodgers] be expecting, he’ll be hoping that they start fast today and put this game to bed early. Otherwise it will become awkward.
“Performances haven’t been there. We mentioned earlier, they’re still not in a bad position in the league. It’s not bad at all.
“But they’ve got to come here and win today, close that gap on Hearts and put Hearts to the sword next week, that’s the aim.
“Whether this team are capable or not. In truth, I’m not sure.”
Hearts are flying right now and Celtic are struggling. Rodgers and his side are struggling right now and have faced a huge swathe of criticism this week already.
Hopefully, the team can channel that negativity and use it to inspire Celtic to a win at Tynecastle because it’s difficult to see where that inspiration is coming from right now.
