Chris Sutton alludes to problem that Brendan Rodgers needs to fix at Celtic

Celtic face Hibernian later tonight in a fixture with much at stake in the context of the Scottish Premiership title race.

The Bhoys head into the match being a single goal difference margin better off than rivals Rangers, who saw off Aberdeen last night to cut the gap at the summit.

Of course, in their last outing, Celtic faced Aberdeen at Pittodrie, where Nicolas Kuhn salvaged a point for the visitors in an underwhelming performance from Brendan Rodgers’ side.

At one point, the Irishman had led the reigning league champions to a comfortable lead at the top of the table. However, after some inconsistent results over the last few months, they have failed to build on their initial momentum and now have plenty of work to do.

Titles aren’t given out in February, though results at this stage can go a long way to dictating the direction the trophy will head in May.

Into the bargain, Rodgers hasn’t found Easter Road to be a happy hunting ground in his two spells at the club and is yet to taste victory in Leith.

Taking all this into account, what better time could there be to ensure there is an end put to that record than this evening as the 51-year-old bids to bring another Scottish Premiership to Parkhead.

Chris Sutton alludes to Celtic problem Brendan Rodgers has to fix

In the aftermath of Celtic’s 1-1 draw with Aberdeen last weekend, Rodgers said that his side need to find ‘greater consistency’ if they have designs on winning the league title.

Former Hoops icon Chris Sutton has seemingly agreed with his sentiment amid the ongoing tussle for Scotland’s top domestic prize.

Speaking on Sky Sports last night, the 50-year-old stated: “There’s been a very obvious momentum swing since Philippe Clement has come into Rangers. He’s building a team which, every week, they’re gathering belief.

“They found a way to win tonight, but they were comfortable in the end. It wasn’t all pretty, but they got over the line.

“And Celtic have been inconsistent and that Celtic’s biggest problem. They’ve not got a great record at Easter Road under Brendan Rodgers so it’s time for Celtic to go there and respond.”

Time for Celtic to respond at Easter Road

Celtic need to dust themselves down ahead of tonight’s must-win clash against Hibernian in Edinburgh as they try to recover from failing to see off Aberdeen.

Plenty of twists and turns will be had between now and the end of this term, signifying that the only thing Rodgers’ men can do is look forward with intent on a game-by-game basis

Nick Nontgomery’s side will come with an appetite to disrupt the Bhoys’ rhythm; nevertheless, Celtic must pull out all the stops to ensure three points travel back down the motorway.
