Chris Sutton exposes Brendan Rodgers Celtic board comments and questions summer signing ‘head scratcher’

Despite Celtic’s disastrous transfer window, Brendan Rodgers has stayed true to one thing.

The Hoops boss has always tried his best to defend the club’s board, despite what the fans think of the Celtic decision-makers at the moment.

Supporters are absolutely furious and sent an open letter to the board asking seven key questions to be answered.

The silence goes on from them, and Rodgers will ultimately be the man to front the press and answer the hard-hitting questions.

There’s no doubt he will support the board again, but Chris Sutton is seeing through the nonsense.

Sutton calls out Rodgers over Celtic board ‘connection’

Writing in his Daily Record column, Sutton has questioned Rodgers’ relationship with the board despite his repeated praise for them.

That’s because four summer signings – Jahmai Simpson-Pusey, Shin Yamada, Hayato Inamura and Callum Osmand – are not in the Europa League squad.

Sutton says that explains everything. He said: “Brendan Rodgers spoke last week about the connection between him and the board. Really? Then why are four of the summer signings not in the Europa League squad?

“That says it all. Shin Yamada comes off the bench at Ibrox while Johnny Kenny isn’t in the squad but the roles are reversed days later.

“I feel sorry for Yamada. I don’t think he’s a world beater but he’s shown signs he could be useful. Now he’s been caught in the crossfire.”

Jahmai Simpson-Pusey signing bewilders Sutton

Simpson-Pusey was signed by Celtic from Manchester City on loan, seemingly to beef up the defence and give the lad some experience.

Pep Guardiola clearly trusted the Hoops to do just that, but the centre-back is yet to play a single minute for Celtic and will not feature in the Europa League.

For Sutton, it just makes zero sense.

He continued: “Someone will have to explain the Jahmai Simpson-Pusey signing to me because that situation is another head scratcher.

“He’s at Celtic to get big match experience – not to sit at home when the team is playing in Europe. This is not connected – it’s disjointed.”
