What a game for Wilfried Nancy to be introduced into on Sunday against Hearts.
Yes, it has been said for many weeks, this could be Martin O’Neill’s final game in charge of Celtic, or that could be his final game in charge.
But according to O’Neill himself, it does seem as though it will now actually happen, Celtic’s home clash against Dundee on Wednesday night will be his final bow.
And then Nancy will officially enter the building, after weeks and weeks of talk around the Columbus Crew boss making the switch from Stateside.
But it has Chris Sutton worried.
Celtic’s centre-back options under Wilfried Nancy

Chris Sutton on Wilfried Nancy’s formation ahead of Celtic arrival
Unless Hearts mess up their midweek game, and Celtic win, then Derek McInnes’ side should go into the weekend match at Parkhead as the Premiership leaders.
If Nancy wins that game and puts the champions of Scotland top, then it would be some introduction for the Frenchman.
But Sutton is worried about the situation around Nancy, and how there will be ‘pressure’ for him to ‘hit the ground running.’
Usually, managers take over teams that are really struggling and low on confidence. That won’t be the case with Nancy, because O’Neill has brushed that all away by winning every domestic match, including away in Europe.
Not only that, with Nancy preferring a 3-4-3 formation, something the Celtic players won’t be used to.
Sutton questioned how the new manager will be able to put his ideas across during a period where there will be very little rest because Celtic are playing three games a week in December.
Is MLS an appropriate league for Celtic to be taking managers from?
“I suppose Wilfried Nancy is thinking that with every passing win that is going to put the pressure on him coming in,” said Sutton.
“Everybody will expect Wilfried Nancy to come in with the team, which seems to be more confident and hit the ground running. There will be that pressure, whether Wilfried Nancy is in charge for the cup final.
“It won’t take long for things to turn with Martin doing so well, and Wilfried Nancy comes in. There is a change of style and personnel. I think it’s very difficult for him.
“There are three games a week. There is no time on the training ground. And if he does play a back three, which is apparently the way he plays at Columbus Crew. To come in and try to implement that, I don’t think that’s easy.
“It’s interesting that Martin is now going to be in charge on Wednesday. Maybe this is going to carry on until the end of the season.”
