Chris Sutton ‘looks at Celtic’ and Rangers to send Hearts boss Derek McInnes a message

Celtic look like they could have a title challenge on their hands as Hearts’ impressive start to the season continues.

Brendan Rodgers has watched his Celtic side struggle both domestically and on the continent as his shot-shy team struggle to recapture their rampant goalscoring form of last season.

Despite that, Celtic are still sitting in second place in the Scottish Premiership while managerless Rangers languish in 8th place.

And looking at both Glasgow clubs, Celtic hero Chris Sutton has sent a message to Hearts boss Derek McInnes after the Tynecastle club beat Hibs in the Edinburgh Derby.

Why Celtic Chris Sutton won’t ‘dismiss Hearts’

With Hearts two points clear from Celtic, Sutton is not discounting a title challenge from the Edinburgh club despite there being just seven games of the season played.

Sutton said on BBC 606, “Fair play to Hearts, fair play to Tony Bloom, Derek McInnes, you know, good manager.

“Derek McInnes knows the Scottish League inside out, a bit like when Aberdeen had had their start last season.

“I don’t dismiss Hearts. You know, I look at Celtic and they’ve regressed this season. So have Rangers.

“What an opportunity.”

What Chris Sutton said about Hearts beating Rangers as Tynecastle clash with Celtic nears

Celtic are yet to play Hearts in the league but the Tynecastle clash on the 26th of October is nearing.

However, Hearts beat Rangers at Ibrox earlier this season and Sutton was scathing with a brutal assessment of the Ibrox club after the defeat.

Sutton said at the time, “Ironic, the striker Rangers should have signed a while back puts them to the sword… Well played Hearts 👏👏.

“Not dealing with Raskin, one way or the other, proving costly for Russell Martin… Rangers 10th…

“That’s embarrassing for Rangers to be sitting tenth in the league.”

Hopefully, when the full time whistle sounds at Tynecastle after Hearts face Celtic, the Bhoys will be leaving Edinburgh with all three points and back on top of the league table.
