Even after Kris Boyd was humbled by Kyogo Furuhashi during Celtic’s 2-1 win over Rangers recently, he still can’t seem to acknowledge his brilliance.

Both Kris Boyd and Chris Sutton were debating their respective Teams of the Season for the Scottish Premiership campaign so far.

Understandably so, it was flooded with Celtic and Rangers players, with Chris Sutton questioning his fellow pundit’s call to leave out Kyogo Furuhashi.

Chris Sutton made it clear that the Japan star is a ‘big game player in the decisive games’, as he told Sky Sports.

Whatever you want to say about the Celtic star’s performances this season, when it has mattered most, he has been there and done it.

Even on a bad day, he still has 11 goal involvements this term, not forgetting his two goals in the Champions League, as well as scoring home and away in the Glasgow derby, same with Aberdeen and against Hearts.

When Kris Boyd selected Hearts’ in-form star Lawrence Shankland and Aberdeen’s Bojan Miovski in his team as the strikers, this was the response from Chris Sutton.

Scottish Premiership Team of the Season so far

“There is something about Kris and Kyogo,” said Sutton. “I mean there is. The reason he has to have Kyogo is that he is a big game player, in the decisive games.

On being told by Boyd that Kyogo has ‘only played four of them’: “Well, they are quite important. The decisive games, who has been the guy to step up? Kyogo.

“Just because he has gone heavy on Lawrence Shankland. He doesn’t want to give Kyogo any credit, which is fine. I don’t think Kyogo will lose any sleep about this.”

Kyogo Furuhashi deserves more respect

What he has done in Scottish football is just sensational. A big game player, regardless of form, you can trust Kyogo with everything.

The quick-thinking forward is a huge reason why a Treble was delivered last season and he could prove to be the difference in where the title ends up.

Everyone in Scotland knows, if Kyogo takes his form up a notch for the second half of the season, then the title is going one way and one way only.
