Chris Sutton has taken a swipe at Celtic after Bodo/Glimt pulled off a stunning win over Man City in the Champions League.

The Norwegian champions recorded their first victory in UEFA’s elite competition as Celtic struggle in the Europa League this season.

We told yesterday how Celtic should spend £6m on Kasper Hogh before the win, and we were absolutely spot on after the Norwegian striker netted a double to sink Pep Guardiola’s side.

And as Bodo/Glimt ran out 3-1 winners, Chris Sutton appeared to take a pop at Celtic after the Norwegians held their own against the English giants.

How many points do you think Celtic need to qualify for the Europa League knockout phase?

Celtic hero Chris Sutton praises Bodø/Glimt’s coaching and structure

We also told how Bodo/Glimt embarrass Celtic with how their club is run, how they use their revenue effectively and the stadium plans that they have in place as the Parkhead club sit on a surplus of over £70m and do nothing with it.

And it appears that Sutton has the exact same thinking as he took to X and said, “Bodo Glimt from a so called Farmers League school moneybags Manchester City from the all conquering Premier League.

“A great story with 9 of Bodo’s starting line up from Norway. A triumph of good coaching and a terrific structure. Bodo had a plan… other clubs should take note…”

Sutton is a long-term critic of how Celtic have managed their decline from being a Champions League team to be feared just 12 months ago, to look like European also-rans.

This is a clear dig at Celtic, but will they take notice? Probably not.

Celtic’s European results since famous Champions League draw in Munich

Celtic came within minutes of taking Bayern Munich to extra-time in the Champions League last March as Brendan Rodgers looked like he secured a famous 1-0 win in Germany.

With seconds to spare, the Bundesliga giants equalised to knock Celtic out and leave thousands of Hoops supporters heartbroken.

And since then, Celtic’s European results have been in freefall. Let’s take a look:

Just two wins from six games in the Europa League as Celtic face Bologna tomorrow night where the Bhoys must avoid defeat to progress in the tournament.

Quite the fall from grace.
