Sebastian Tounekti has been the one shining light out of Celtic’s summer transfer window.
The Tunisian international has impressed Celtic supporters in his first three games for the club as Tounekti continues to look like an attractive attacking option for Brendan Rodgers.
Tounekti scored in Celtic’s win over Partick Thistle in the Premier Sports Cup last weekend and had a great game against Kilmarnock at Rugby Park.
However, despite that, Celtic hero Chris Sutton tells fans exactly why he isn’t getting ahead of himself about the international winger despite his strong start to the season.

Chris Sutton warns Celtic winger Sebastian Tounekti’s ‘adrenalin rush’ will cause a drop in form
Tounekti has been sparkling for Celtic in the SPFL but did struggle to recapture that form against Red Star Belgrade midweek.
And Sutton believes that a drop in form for the Celtic winger is coming as he sends a warning about the new Celtic fan favourite.
Sutton wrote in the Daily Record, “Sebastian Tounekti has started like a house on fire on the left but I’d be cautious of going overboard.
“He was outstanding against Kilmarnock and Partick but found it much harder in the one v ones in Belgrade when he went up a level.
“Tounekti did okay, but there could still be a dip after his initial adrenalin rush.”
Sebastian Tounekti’s Celtic stats vs Hibs could prove Sutton right
Whilst Celtic fans will accept that players will not always give a sparkling performance in every game, Tounekti’s stats on Fotmob appear to back up what Sutton is saying.
Here is how Tounekti’s 6.5 rating on the football stats site broke down:
- Minutes played: 74
- Goals: 0
- Assists: 0
- Total shots: 2
- Minutes played: 74

- Touches in opposition box: 12
- Successful dribbles: 0/1 (0%)
- Passes into final third: 1
- Accurate crosses: 1/3 (33%)
- Accurate long balls: 0/1 (0%)
Tounekti’s performance against Red Star was of a similar quality so let’s hope that this will be the dip Sutton has warned about and that it’s out of the Celtic attacker’s system now.
