Celtic’s performance against Motherwell really was the proverbial game of two halves.

From looking like a team who has never played together before in the first half to genuine title contenders in the second, the fans left Fir Park yesterday afternoon with a real sense of optimism for the rest of the season.

But the result was mostly down to one man. The one man that Brendan Rodgers brought on in the second half who turned the game on its head.

Adam Idah‘s arrival at Celtic in January was met with a kind of muted celebration. That’s not because we didn’t rate the player but mainly because the club hardly spent any of the £60m+ they have in the bank after Rodgers wanted more quality in the side.

However, what cannot be denied is that Idah has made an instant impact at Celtic. An assist in the 1-1 draw with Aberdeen was followed up by a penalty double at Easter Road.

And his two goals yesterday in the 3-1 Motherwell win really was the cherry on top of a great start to his Celtic career.

Chris Sutton loved what he saw from Adam Idah yesterday

The former Celtic hero was really impresses with the Republic of Ireland international yesterday and during lice commentary could not hold back his praise after Idah tucked away his second of the game.

Sutton said [Sky Sports], “His movement’s brilliant. The finish is excellent as well. We spoke about the joy on the right-hand side for Celtic in this second half.

“The early cross from Alistair Johnston, and Idah gets across his man.

“I tell you what, he’s still got so much to do and it’s controlling the finish. He uses the pace of the ball and bang, he opens his left foot out and beats Kelly at his near post.”

Celtic know that if they want to sign Idah on a permanent deal it will cost them in the region of £3m.

Whether or not the club, or Rodgers, are willing to shell out that kind of money remains to be seen. However, what cannot be denied is that if Idah’s goals help Celtic to this season’s title, he will leave Paradise a hero forever in the eyes of the Hoops supporters.
