The transfer chat surrounding Celtic has already begun with the January window just around the corner.

Already the Celtic fans have heard that Luis Palma could be on his way out of the club after being linked to teams in the MLS.

Palma has really struggled to break into the Celtic team this season and looks like he could be on his way out of the club sooner rather than later.

However, it’s not Palma who is being talked about now as there is a player currently out on loan from Celtic who is now being talked about for a permanent Parkhead exit when his temporary deal expires this month.

Internacional president says he ‘will work’ to keep Celtic defender Alexandro Bernabei

Bernabei has been enjoying a rich vein of form in the Brazilian Serie A with Internacional since making his loan move from Celtic back in February.

And speaking about the Celtic defender’s future at his club, Internacional’s president, Alessandro Barcellos, has admitted he is talking to the Parkhead club about a permanent deal to land the Argentine defender.

Barcelos told the Charla Podcast, “We wish to keep Alexandro Bernabei and our work will be for him to stay.

“We will work till the end to keep him. We know that the club has its financial limit. But I think it is possible, I am optimistic. We will make all the effort we can.

“We are talking but will go deep on it after the tournament. Ending the season, we will dig into it to have a solution until the end of the year.”

Celtic defender Alexandro Bernabei’s form at Internacional

Bernabei has been like a new player since joining the Brazilian club earlier this year. With 23 appearances under his belt, the 24-year-old has scored three goals and created five assists.

The Celtic defender even scored in the Grenal derby in a huge win over Corinthians earlier in the season.

Remarkably, Bernabei has made almost the same amount of appearances for Internacional in six months as he has done for two seasons at Celtic where he has appeared in the green and white Hoops 28 times.

Brendan Rodgers clearly sees Bernabei as surplus to requirements and would sanction a move for his Celtic exit.

However, with Celtic placing an £8m price tag on Bernabei’s head, there is clearly some work needing to be done by both clubs to come to a mutual agreement if the Argentinian is to get his wish and continue to play his football in Brazil.
