Celtic player labelled as ‘exciting’ by Brendan Rodgers could leave Parkhead in January

With the January transfer window just around the corner, Celtic will be tipped to make moves as Brendan Rodgers looks to continue to build his squad.

The Celtic boss addressed transfer speculation after the Bhoys battered Ross County at the weekend and Rodgers admitted that the club will look to do business when the January window opens next month.

Brendan Rodgers has already invested heavily in his Celtic squad and the club and fans have seen the benefit of that with an unbeaten domestic start and a huge improvement in performances and results in the Champions League this season.

But it seems that as well as incomings, the Celtic support may need to brace themselves for an exit when the window opens in a few weeks.

Luis Palma and MLS interest in the Celtic winger

Luis Palma has found himself out in the cold at Celtic over the last couple of months as the Honduran struggles to win a place in the Hoops’ matchday squad.

The Honduran was left out as Celtic beat beat Ross County and Palma has made just seven appearances in the green and white Hoops this season.

This is a stark contrast from his maiden season at Celtic where Palma enjoyed a superb start to his Parkhead career with 10 goals and 10 assists in his first six months in Glasgow.

However, that form quickly disappeared and now, according to The Scottish Sun, Palma could leave Celtic in January with MLS clubs in the frame to capture his signature.

Palma has had spells in the USA before with Real Salt Lake and Real Monarchs but it seems his dream move to Europe looks set to come to an end.

What Brendan Rodgers has said about Luis Palma at Celtic

When Palma first signed for Celtic Rodgers was really looking forward to seeing what the Honduran could produce at Parkhead.

In fact, just before Celtic took on Rangers in the first Glasgow Derby of last season, Rodgers called Palma and ‘exciting player’ who ‘works hard’ and was ‘quick’.

After Palma’s mistake in last seasons 2-1 defeat to Lazio at Celtic Park, Rodgers tipped the Honduran to improve as he was a player with ‘technical quality’.

In Palma’s goalscoring first start Celtic against Kilmarnock last season the Hoops boss said he was ‘excellent’ and tipped the Honduran to ‘get better and better in time’.

However, as Palma dropped out of the team last season, Rodgers told the Celtic winger during the US Summer Tour that he had to ‘run more with the ball’ and that he had to be ‘pressing more’ to help improve the technical side of his game.

But it seems that the Celtic boss may have now determined that Palma is surplus to requirements due to the form of Daizen Maeda, Nicolas Kuhn and James Forrest with Hyunjun Yang also ahead of him in the Parkhead packing order.
