Columbus Crew’s General Manager Issa Tall sat down with local radio to confirm if the club had received an approach from Celtic for Wilfried Nancy.
Celtic supporters were braced for news about Nancy after an American journalist in the Columbus area revealed that they had sat down with Tall to discuss the ongoing rumours.
Nancy has remained tight-lipped about his own future while reports this side of the pond have claimed that a deal is nearing completion.
Martin O’Neill and Shaun Maloney will be in charge against St Mirren this weekend and now, we finally know just how close the Hoops actually are.

Issa Tall says Celtic have made no approach for Wilfried Nancy
In the latest episode of Inside the Crew – a podcast dedicated to all things Columbus Crew – Tall confirmed that no approach had been made by Celtic to get permission to speak to their current head coach.
He said: “I was told that there was a report that said we gave permission to Celtic but in order to get permission, you have to ask. We haven’t had anything from that particular club.
“We’ve never received something official. I’m not saying it’s something that couldn’t come in my mailbox in the next hour, but for now we haven’t heard anything.”

Issa Tall says it is ‘wild’ how European clubs make approaches for managers
The cycle of appointing a new manager is something that we are used to over here, whereas in the MLS, things work a little differently.
Tall admitted that the media storm around Nancy’s links to Celtic have caught him out by surprise and compared it to the ‘wild west’.
“Outside of this country is, at times, the wild west,” he added.
“The transparency that this league has in comparison to others, and the rules that this league has in comparison to others. It’s pretty wild.
“If you know, it’s easier to understand, but not be surprised. Not everyone acts like they do.”
