Celtic’s pursuit of Wilfried Nancy from Columbus Crew is football’s worst-kept secret.
The Parkhead club have had three weeks to find a suitable heir for Brendan Rodgers but it seems that Celtic are really keen on Nancy.
The Columbus Crew boss is reportedly in talks with the Scottish champions, but it seems Celtic’s strange midweek managerial statement hinted that there may be a delay in naming Nancy as their new manager.
And that might be because of the update Columbus Crew general manager Issa Tall is set to give tonight about the speculation surrounding Nancy and Celtic.

Issa Tall says Celtic have not ‘asked permission’ to speak to Nancy
In a rather strange turn of events, despite reports claiming that Nancy is in talks with Celtic, Columbus Crew’s matchday radio host Chris Doran, has shared details of an interview he has just had with Issa Tall.
Doran said on X, “As of Noon today, no football club had asked permission to speak with #Crew96 head coach Nancy (per his contract) according to GM Issa Tall.
“Keep in mind, it can be “the Wild West” outside the US.”
The interview is set to air at 2am UK time on Thursday morning so it will be interesting to hear what Tall has to say.
67 Hail Hail probe Doran for answers on Nancy and Celtic
Spotting the tweet, 67 Hail Hail decided to ask Doran if he thought the deal to bring Nancy to Celtic is likely to go through.
Doran very kindly replied, “I think what’s clear is that #Crew96 have not been approached about releasing a contracted staff member for employment consideration elsewhere.”
It all seems to be a bit unnerving for Celtic fans as many would have believed that an appointment of a new manager was not too far away.
After this update, it’s little wonder Celtic released the statement they did during the week.
