Craig Burley says talent level of one Celtic hero, with a ‘topsy-turvy’ career, left him shocked

Celtic fans have been blessed to have watched some characters and performers in Glasgow over the years.

Whether they came in under the legendary Martin O’Neill, or even now in today’s game, players like Jota like to wow the crowds like no other.

It’s these players that fans remember the most, because, forget about the stats, it’s how they entertain you that matters the most. 

Then, by the end of it all, the sprinkle and reward for all of that is lifting the trophies, and Celtic have been doing just that time and time again.

O’Neill became the Celtic manager at the turn of the century, and there was already a man in the squad who was a fan favourite and left a lasting impression on former player Craig Burley.

Craig Burley lauds Lubo Moravcik’s two-footed qualities at Celtic

The ability to shoot, pass or do anything with the ball, using both feet, is a serious quality to have and Burley explained how Lubo Moravcik had it in abundance.

The former Bhoys midfielder was asked to name a player, who he played with, who was as good with their right foot as they are with their left.

Burley brought up the name of Celtic hero Moravcik and the genius of the man, as he told ESPN. 

“I saw a couple of players, that I played with during my playing career, and particularly one at Celtic, a Slovakian called Lubo Moravcik.

“He had a bit of a topsy-turvy career until the end of it. Honestly, in terms of a talent level, oh my God, he was incredible.

“In the end, he had a great time, and the Celtic fans loved him. You could not tell (if he was left or right-footed). 

“He could whip a corner in with his right foot or whip it in with his left, and there would be absolutely no difference. It was equally as good. There weren’t many of them around.”

To put it simply, after being disrespected, Moravcik soon answered his critics on the pitch and played a part in that side that would dominate under O’Neill.

You would pay to watch the Slovakian star play because he glided with the ball with ease.

And he had an amazing career to go with it.
