Daizen Maeda took time to thank Celtic fans for all of their support over the years after reaching 200 appearances for the Hoops.

Maeda celebrated the milestone against Rangers and has been one of the key figures in the side in recent years.

This season hasn’t been his best by any stretch of the imagination and it could be his last, following interest in the Japan international, but Maeda is still eternally grateful to the Bhoys faithful.

Daizen Maeda thanks Celtic fans

Speaking to Celtic TV to reflect on his 200 appearances for the club, Maeda said that without the love and support of the fans, his family would not have been able to settle in Glasgow as quickly and as easily as they have.

He said: “It was a big challenge to move from Japan to Europe, but the club and the fans made me feel at home from the very first day.

“My teammates have been amazing, and we have a very strong bond in the dressing room. I feel I have grown a lot as a player and a person during my time here.

“I always try to give my maximum for the supporters because they give us so much energy.”

In a more light-hearted section of the interview, Maeda explains how he has gone through so many hairstyles, and that it is down to his daughter.

We have seen everything from bleach blonde to his current locks, and he revealed he doesn’t have the final say.

“My family is the most important thing to me. They have supported me through everything. My daughter even tells me how to style my hair! Honestly, I can never say no to her,” said Maeda.

“Their happiness in Scotland makes it much easier for me to focus on my football.”
