Refereeing decisions seem to be taking over the chat in Celtic’s win over Kilmarnock today.
Since yesterday we have had Kris Boyd claiming Reo Hatate should have been sent off only for Derek McInnes to disagree.
Peter Grant said an elbow on Celtic striker Adam Idah should have been dealt with properly by the match officials after the reaction of the Kilmarnock bench.
Dermot Gallagher also backed Celtic hero, Hatate and said a yellow card was sufficient for his tackle on the Kilmarnock player as the former Grade One referee said he ‘pulled out’ of the tackle.
But it seems that there is another Kilmarnock player who was also lucky not to get a red card and Billy Dodds reckons he could have knocked out Celtic hero, Kasper Schmeichel.
Kasper Schmeichel ‘not happy’ with Kilmarnock’s Joe Wright
Speaking about Wright’s late challenge on Schmeichel, Dodds reckons the Kilmarnock midfielder was extremely fortunate to stay on the park.
Dodds told BBC Sportscene [21m 55s], “There was. And you can see once he’s kicked it away. I think if he connects, he’s off the pitch as well, Donnelly.
“So, lucky. Schmeichel not happy. Auston Trusty is over and is not happy and you can see why. The swipe of the arm, if that connects, it’s a knockout.”
Celtic’s dominant position heading into the international break
Celtic are looking good heading into the final international break of 2024.
Sitting on top of the Scottish Premiership table nine points clear of Rangers and 14 goals ahead of Aberdeen, Brendan Rodgers is enjoying a great first quarter to the season.

In the League Cup final after Celtic destroyed Aberdeen, the Hoops boss is also in a great position in the Champions League as well.
With seven points on the board with a home game against Club Brugge next, Rodgers could very well secure a play-off place before the cup final against Rangers at Hampden.
What a great place to be in so early in the season and Rodgers will be confident that this could be his most successful spell ever as the Celtic boss.
