Former Celtic striker, Moussa Dembele has finally sealed his next move after his new club made the announcement on Twitter tonight. Dembele had been out of contract since the end of last season and despite being linked to some of Europe’s top clubs, the former Celtic favourite has decided to join Steven Gerrard in the Saudi Pro League.
67 Hail Hail first told of Gerrard’s interest after Fabrizio Romano revealed he was of interest to the former Rangers manager just under two weeks ago.
And now, Al Ettifaq have confirmed that the former Celtic Invincible has joined after passing a medical this week in a tweet on social media.
Translated, the tweet says, “Brave, generous, brigadier general, fearless, don’t be afraid if the crowd overruns us.
“Moussa Dembele, a new knight in Faris Al-Dahna.”
Dembele joins Jordan Henderson at the Saudi club with another former Celtic player, Jack Hendry, also expected to link up with the Frenchman as Gerrard looks to strengthen his squad for the season ahead.
Dembele joins a plethora of top European stars who have decided to ply their trade in the Middle East as the Saudi Pro League attempts to boost its profile within world football.

There is no mention of the length of contract or what his salary would be. But if the deal to take former Celtic winger, Jota is anything to go by, Dembele will most likely be on a fairly impressive weekly wage.
After leaving Celtic to join Lyon, Dembele has failed to continue the success he enjoyed under Brendan Rodgers. And whilst 70 goals in 172 appearances in the French top league can hardly be regarded as a failure, the 27-year-old hasn’t managed to add to his medal tally since his Celtic exit in 2018.
There is no doubt Al Ettifaq are getting themselves a quality striker. But it will be interesting to see how Dembele fares in Saudi Arabia as he looks to pick up career and his resume his goalscoring feats.
