As Celtic get the process of unveiling their three latest signings, the fans will be excited to hear from the new players and get a feel of what made them come to the club and what skills they can bring to kick the team onto the next level.
Earlier today, Maik Nawrocki tell us how Celtic’s style of controlling possession suits his game and how he is looking forward to playing in the Champions League. I also told how a K League expert, Ross Davis, gave a glowing report on Celtic’s two new Korean signings and how Kwon, in particular, will be an asset to the team.
And now, we have Hyeokkyu Kwon himself at the latest press conference detailing exactly what he will bring to Celtic.
Kwon said [Celtic YouTube], “I’m a type of a player who can do very hard pressing and give pressure to the opponent. I’m very good at intercepting the ball and I’m also good at building up the process and giving the ball to the attacking players.
“I don’t have any experience in the Scottish Premiership but I have experience in K2 League and I look forward to bringing what the new manager is looking for in me.
“It was always my dream to come to a big European club and that’s why I had to solve out my military issue in Korea.
“That’s why I am here and I’m very honoured and I think it’s a new chance for me to show who I am.”
Kwon certainly seems like a midfield all-rounder. He sounds like he has a physical presence that we have been missing in the middle of the park.
Don’t get me wrong, Reo Hatate, Callum McGregor and Matt O’Riley do an outstanding job controlling the midfield possession but neither of them are exactly the type of no-nonsense midfielder we have been crying out for.
However, it should be noted that Kwon only has experience in the second tier of the Korean League. Despite the reports highlighting his strengths, he hasn’t played at a club like Celtic so expectations should remain reasonable as he settles into the club.
But if he is as good as Davis said he is and can Kwon can play to the strengths that he says he has, the Celtic supporters could have a special player on their hands.
