Ex-FIFA man Mark Clattenburg’s verdict on Celtic ‘goal’ makes Stephen Robinson look foolish

Stephen Robinson’s post-match comments after Celtic beat St Mirren over the disallowed Liam Scales own goal may well sound a wee bit silly now.

The St Mirren boss was fuming as Robinson reacted to the decision by the match officials to rule out Liam Scales’ own-goal for offside as Celtic beat the Buddies in Paisley.

Chris Sutton said the decision to disallow the goal against Celtic was correct after the former Hoops striker said the St Mirren boss was ‘talking rubbish’.

Even Kris Boyd was in agreement as he put paid to a strange Rangers fan Celtic conspiracy as the Sky Sports pundit agreed that the decision was 100% correct.

Robinson said that the match officials ‘will probably make some sort of reason up’ to justify the decision in his post-match Celtic press conference.

And what former FIFA referee Mark Clattenburg has exclusively told 67 Hail Hail will make the St Mirren boss’ comments look a wee bit foolish now.

Mark Clattenburg tells Stephen Robinson the ‘right decision’ was made over Celtic ‘goal’

Clattenburg has no ties to the Scottish game, the SFA or the officials in the SPFL and this is what he said of the disallowed St Mirren goal vs Celtic.

Clattenburg told 67 Hail Hail, “The right decision was made to disallow a St Mirren equalising goal v Celtic.

“When the ball is played forward there is a player in an offside position who makes a clear attempt to play the ball and is very close to the defender who is trying to play the ball with the eventual goal scorer and therefore interfering with the defender’s ability to play the ball.”

That’s three people who have now told Robinson that he was wrong with his comments as the St Mirren boss now looks a wee bit silly.

Celtic’s next Scottish Premiership fixture as Hearts tie nears

Celtic’s next fixture in the Scottish Premiership is another tough away tie.

A trip to the capital to face Hibs beckons as Hearts’ December visit to Celtic Park nears.

David Gray’s side beat Dundee 2-0 at the weekend and will provide tough opposition for the 12pm kick-off on Sunday the 30th of November.
