Scott Brown was certainly a unique figure during his time at Celtic.
The Celtic Park faithful will be forever grateful that Brown secured a transfer to Glasgow from Hibernian in 2007 because it made him a cult hero.
They simply don’t make, not players, but characters off the field, and especially on the field, like him anymore – the game is devoid of them!
One thing is certain, the hard-hitting midfielder was a brave as a lion and his dominant success at Celtic was the reward for all of that.
Now, that once wily character can be seen in the dugout because he is the manager of Ayr United.
Over the weekend, Brown’s Ayr beat Neil Lennon’s Dunfermline in the Scottish championship, in a Celtic reunion like no other because Victor Wanyama was sent off on debut.
One of the players who scored for Brown was former Rangers midfielder, Jamie Murphy, and he shared what his now-manager used to say to him on the pitch.

Jamie Murphy shares what Scott Brown used to say during Celtic and Rangers matches
Who knew? Brown loved a chat on the pitch, and to be fair, he had every right to do so because he could back it up.
Murphy represented Rangers for three years, so he would have got a fair bit of what it was like playing against the 55-cap Scotland star.
The 35-year-old told PLZ Soccer that the legendary Hoops captain would critique his quality on the ball and question why he was making certain decisions.
Tam McManus asked: “Obviously, Scott Brown is your manager now. How was it to play against him? How did you feel he was like as a player?
“In the Glasgow derbies, he tended to control a lot of them in the middle of the park.”
Scott Allan joked: “Are you going to get an honest answer here from Jamie?”
Murphy responded: “No, no. I will tell you. He would speak through the game, that’s the kind of thing. Yeah (he was mouthy). He would talk all through that.
“He will say, ‘what are you doing there?’, and ‘what kind of touch is that’, whilst he is behind you and you are thinking ‘go away. Go to the other side or something’. It’s good to have a laugh and a joke now with him about it.”
Brown’s record as a Celtic player against Rangers
To win 22 trophies in your career is pretty remarkable, but that’s exactly what Brown achieved during his time in Glasgow, as well as one League Cup win with Hibs.
Most of the time, and mainly under Brendan Rodgers, he ripped it up like no other and enjoyed success after success.
Sitting there in front of the defence, Brown won a total of 26 Glasgow derby matches.
