Celtic fans have long held suspicions about Scottish referees and where their allegiances lie in terms of supporting the Bhoys or Rangers.
Historically, there are some referees who take part in the Rangers after-dinner circuit, and there are some who have been caught drinking in an Ibrox-leaning bar which has, rightly, fuelled Celtic fans’ suspicions about the whistlers in Scotland.
From memory, there have not been many SFA referees, current or historically, that have admitted that they are Celtic supporters.
That is until now as one openly admitted he supports the Bhoys after he watched Celtic’s defeat to Dundee at the weekend.

Former SFA referee Steve Conroy admits he’s a Celtic fan
Steve Conroy has often been rumoured to be a Celtic supporter and after watching the Dens Park loss, the former referee admits he’s concerned about the Parkhead club.
When asked if he was ‘worried’ about Celtic, Conroy said on The Ref’s View, “Always. I’m a pessimist.
“Something has happened, and I guess half of our listenership don’t believe what team I support. But this harks back to the, and maybe not quite as bad in touchwood, the 10 in a row season where it all just imploded.
“I don’t know what’s happened to this Celtic team. There was no zip, no fight, and I think everybody has concentrated on how bad Celtic were, but Dundee absolutely slaughtered Celtic.
“We talked about it. It doesn’t need to be Pep Guardiola to realise that Dundee were going to play a 9-1 system, or a 4-4-1 system. We knew that was coming, but they didn’t seem to have a way around it.
“They played it the same all the time. But there was no fight, there was no speed.”
You can watch his admission below:
In a discussion about the penalty Celtic got against Kilmarnock in September, The Ref’s View X account tweeted Conroy was a Hoops supporter but not many of the Parkhead support believed it.
Steve Conroy suggests the Dundee star Celtic should have signed
So, with that in mind, and talking about the Dens Park game, Conroy also says Celtic should have signed Blues captain Simon Murray.
Conroy continued, “It was brilliant to watch, absolutely brilliant. And I still think that way back, Celtic should have signed Simon Murray.
“I think him and Gogic are my two favourite players in the Premier League. They should have signed Simon Murray.”
Back to the football and Celtic’s next fixture against Sturm Graz is turning into one of the most important games of the season.
Celtic supporters will be watching to see if there is a reaction to the Dundee loss and at Parkhead, with almost 60,000 fans there, the pressure will be on Brendan Rodgers and his team to turn around this performance slump.
