Alistair Johnston and Arne Engels were spotted back in full Celtic training and were joined by another figure ahead of Sunday’s game against Dundee United.

The gallery of training pictures on the Celtic website featured a smiling Johnston and Engels with the rest of the first-team.

Engels’ return is perfect timing since Callum McGregor is still on the sidelines through injury. It is unlikely they will feature in the matchday squad this weekend, like Kasper Schmeichel, who was also a surprise figure at training.

Kasper Schmeichel spotted at Celtic training despite injury news

Schmeichel confirmed he would be having an operation on a shoulder injury that would leave him out of action for almost a year.

The 39-year-old has been doing the rounds on CBS Golazo talking about the injury, and wasn’t expected to be a part of any training.

However, he was there in action on the training pitch at Lennoxtown, although he was only working with the ball at his feet.

Viljami Sinisalo and Ross Doohan were put through their paces while the Denmark international did some light work, and spoke with interim manager Martin O’Neill and the rest of his teammates during the session.
