Former Celtic manager Neil Lennon is poised for a return to football management after two years out of the dugout.
The 52-year-old was last in post at Omonia Nicosia before being dismissed in 2022; however, he did win the Cypriot Cup during his eventful spell in charge.
Earlier this year, strong rumours intimated Lennon was a contender for the Republic of Ireland vacancy, though he was contacted by FAI Director of Football Marc Canham, who informed him that he was no longer in the running.
Nevertheless, his managerial exploits cannot be understated despite a bitter end to his second spell at Celtic. Overall, he won ten trophies at Parkhead, making him the third-most successful boss in the club’s illustrious history.
Now, he is set for a comeback that could be announced as soon as this weekend, with both parties now on the verge of agreeing a deal.
Neil Lennon set to become Rapid Bucharest’s new manager
According to The Scottish Sun, Lennon is on the brink of being appointed boss of Romanian outfit Rapid Bucharest on a two-year contract worth in the region of £1.5 million.
Discussions have been held over the last week, and he is expected to be officially unveiled after their derby clash with rivals Steaua Bucharest on Sunday evening.

Following a period out of the game where he has become a familiar face in the punditry circuit, Lennon is now at an ‘advanced stage’ of negotiations to replace caretaker Bogdan Lobont.
Legendary ex-Celtic leader Martin O’Neill was also thought to be of interest to Rapid Bucharest; nevertheless, Lennon is in pole position to take over at the three-time Romanian top-flight winners.
Hopefully, the Lurgan-born can enjoy a successful time at the Rapid-Giulesti Stadium as his managerial journey continues in a completely different environment.
His employment at Celtic may have ended abruptly, though he will undoubtedly be an asset to the Railwaymen once his new role is finalised.
