Kjetil Knutsen wasn’t able to win three successive titles on the bounce with Bodo/Glimt on the final day of the season in Norway.

Bodo knew that they needed to better Viking’s result but while they were able to win 5-0, their title rivals hammered Valerenga to take the Eliteserien crown.

Four league wins in six years is still incredible going and as Knutsen prepares to go into the final few weeks of his contract, he has been complimentary despite falling short.

Kjetil Knutsen on Bodo/Glimt falling short in title race

It has still been a remarkable season for the Norwegian side, having reached the semi-finals of the Europa League and are now competing in the Champions League for the first time.

Missing out on the league is ultimately disappointing, but Knutsen is still very proud of what his side has achieved in 2025.

He told TV2: “Congratulations to Viking. We did the job today. We took 70 points, scored the most and conceded the least. We will evaluate, but the total this year with the semi-finals in the Europa League and league games in the CL. We have had a solid season.

“We can tear our hair out over some games. There have been some situations in overtime. We have three or four of those. But we have done a lot of good. We want to get better and develop this further.”

Wilfried Nancy preferred to Kjetil Knutsen

While most Celtic fans were vocal about wanting Knutsen, it will be another highly-rated coach that takes the job.

Wilfried Nancy will be in charge for the Hearts game on Sunday 7 December following a delay in getting the paperwork signed.

If Knutsen is to leave Bodo, he will be a in demand after transforming the tiny club into one of Norway’s footballing powerhouses.

Who knows if he would’ve been a success, but whatever he chooses to do, we are sure he will continue on his upward trajectory.
