As the domestic season continues for the Celtic fans this week, the Champions League is still on some pundit’s minds.

Celtic are currently on fire on all fronts right now after knocking five goals past Falkirk on Sunday afternoon and five into Slovan Bratislava in the Champions League.

Brendan Rodgers’ side is blowing teams away albeit Celtic did huff and puff against Falkirk in the cup.

But it was in the Champions League that Celtic impressed Gabby Agbonlahor as he shared where he believes the Parkhead club will finish against the cream of Europe.

Celtic could reach Champions League play-off spot

Agbonlahor is a big fan of Celtic and recently attended the 3-0 win over Rangers at Celtic Park. The former Aston Villa man is also a huge fan of Champions League nights in Celtic Park.

And making his prediction, Agbonlahor believes the new set-up will benefit Celtic and that they can qualify for the new play-off places.

Agbonlahor told talkSPORT, “What I would say, though, is that this new format will give Celtic a better chance, I think.

“I think Celtic could finish in the top 24 to get a play-off, I do.”

Celtic’s realistic chance in the Champions League

Indeed, Celtic faces their sternest test yet in the competition with away ties to Borussia Dortmund and Atalanta.

And whilst both clubs lost their most recent domestic games, they will still be tough nuts to crack. But after that, Celtic then have two winnable home fixtures against RB Leipzig and Club Brugge.

Then in December, an away tie beckons at Dinamo Zagreb which, again, is not beyond Celtic’s reach to nab all three points.

If Celtic can take at least a point from Germany and Italy and win their next two home games and the away fixture against Zagreb, a play-off place will be guaranteed giving Brendan Rodgers a great chance to make significant progress in the tournament.
