The lack of transfers at Celtic has led a fan to suggest Martin O’Neill could quit the club out of sheer frustration.

Day 21 of the January transfer window has yielded just one new addition after Julian Araujo joined Celtic on the 2nd day of the month.

Since that day, Celtic have been linked with a number of players in a variety of positions but as yet, have not added their second addition.

It looks like we finally have our striker… what are your first impressions of Tomas Cvancara

Tomas Cvancara’s Celtic move seems to be on the cards now, but a Celtic supporter suggested before that news broke that if the club didn’t get signings in this week, O’Neill could walk away from the club.

But that was immediately shut down by pundit Gordon Dalziel with fellow Superscoreboard man Hugh Keevins delivering his usual doom and gloom reply.

‘Absolutely no chance’ Martin O’Neill would quit Celtic

O’Neill fields constant questions about Celtic’s transfer business and the manager has started to look a bit exasperated.

So when a Celtic supporter said he feared O’Neill could quit over Celtic’s transfers, Dalziel said on Superscoreboard, “Absolutely no chance. No chance, absolutely no chance. I’m not a betting man, but I’d certainly bet everything I’ve got. Not a chance.

I don’t think that they would leave Martin O’Neill like that. There’s absolutely not a chance in this world, and I know Celtic have come in for a lot of criticism.

“Their summer transfer window was appalling, everything, about being late, all the stuff that went with it, wasted money.

“Martin O’Neill’s there. There’s not a chance this window’s closing without…”

Dalziel was in full flow as presenter Gordon Duncan butted in, but it was Keevins’ reply that won’t shock Celtic supporters.

Keevins believes O’Neill could walk away from Celtic

The long-time Celtic critic replied to this claim and, honestly, his answer will not surprise the Hoops support in any way, shape or form.

Keevins replied, “I’m not as certain as Gordon that Martin might one day say, ‘Do you know what, I’m going back down to London’.

“So much will hinge on the next two weeks. Celtic have to go to Italy, have to play Hearts. May have to play Hearts with no new signings. May fall nine points behind Hearts.

“The transfer window may close and you’ll have a low knee or two low knees in. But the squad is insufficient to win the league. At some point, there’ll be further trouble down the line.

Dalziel: “Do you think Martin and Hugh would leave before the summer, Hugh?”

I don’t rule out the possibility. He’s a free man and if he felt that he was wasting his time, then…

“But in order for that to be the case, Celtic would have to be without any chance of winning the league title.”

With O’Neill’s first signing incoming, let’s hope there are plenty of others on the way.

This will shut down this kind of nonsense and hysteria that the club could be doing without right now.
