Back in the summer, many were expecting Hyunjun Yang to leave Celtic.
For all intents and purposes, Yang was going to leave, but the only reason a possible sale was stopped was that Celtic didn’t have a replacement in the building.
During the subsequent months, as Celtic have gone from one manager to another, it has been an interesting journey for Yang.

A player who used to spend quite a lot of time on the bench when Brendan Rodgers was in charge is now a regular starter, previously under Wilfried Nancy and now Martin O’Neill.
How good has Yang been this past month?

Gordon Dalziel on ‘unfair’ treatment of Hyunjun Yang at Celtic
With the January transfer window still open, Gordon Dalziel highlighted the areas that need to be fixed, including the Hoops needing a ‘centre-half’, ‘somebody in the middle of the park’, and ‘wide players.’
Speaking on Open Goal, Dalziel mentioned the right flank, and if the champions of Scotland want to ‘kick on’, then another body needs to enter the building.
But Dalziel did acknowledge how well Yang has been performing, and how there has been ‘a lot of unfair criticism’ aimed towards him.
“They need a centre-half,” said Dalziel. “I think they need somebody in the middle of the park. They need wide players, for me.
“I know Yang has done alright, and I think Yang has had an unfair, a lot of unfair criticism, at times. He is frustrating. Lately, he has done well under Martin O’Neill as well and scored a couple of goals.
“But I think they need a bit more if they want to kick on.”

Dalziel hits the nail on the head with a message to the Celtic board
At the start of January, Celtic were planning to bring in new players for Nancy, and with Paul Tisdale seemingly calling the shots from the boardroom.
But those two are now out of the door, and it has forced the club to change a lot in such a short space of time.
Many are hinting towards Celtic needing short-term options, but Dalziel fired a brilliant message to the board about how ‘you can’t worry about a manager coming in the summer’, and just spend the money.
“If you have to go and spend money,” said Dalziel. “I would be using the loan market as much as I could, but Celtic have to go and spend money? So what.
“You can’t worry about a new manager coming in the summer because we are discussing this as a three-horse race.
“You can’t sit here and go, ‘Martin isn’t going to be the manager in the summer, so we can’t really back him with the money.’ If you are Celtic, you need to go all in.”
