The final international break of 2025 is upon us.
Celtic have two matches to deal with before players jet off across the world – a Europa League clash against FC Midtjylland on Thursday evening, and then Kilmarnock in the Premiership at the weekend.
One man who is hoping for success on the international stage is Benjamin Nygren, with Sweden’s chances of reaching the 2026 World Cup next summer now looking pretty slim.
That’s why, after the October international break, Sweden sacked manager Jon Dahl Tomasson and appointed Graham Potter, as he named his first squad on Wednesday.

Benjamin Nygren has been selected in Graham Potter’s first Sweden squad
It’s good news for Nygren, because he has been named in Potter’s first Sweden squad, and now the Celtic man will be looking to kick on.
Two very tough fixtures await Sweden, starting with a trip to Switzerland on November 15, and then a home clash against Slovenia on November 18.
Nygren will be hoping to make a strong start under Potter, because under the previous manager, he was hardly given a chance.
A change of fortune for Celtic’s summer signing?
The last international break was a rather wasted one for Nygren, and hopefully that won’t happen again.
That’s because Dahl Tomasson, before he was booted out, opted to keep the versatile Celtic attacker on the bench for back-to-back matches.
This is despite Sweden needing wins, as they were beaten by Switzerland and then Kosovo. Failing to score in both.
No wonder Dahl Tomasson was booted out, because when Celtic’s recruit has played, he has scored two goals in the three starts that have been handed to him.
Perhaps more starts are in order, and that’s where Nygren will be hoping Potter brings a change of fortune.
