All the recent chat surrounding Celtic in this transfer window has been about the return of Kieran Tierney from Arsenal and where that leaves the future of Greg Taylor.

Reports yesterday suggested that the Celtic defender was willing to talk to Dinamo Zagreb about a pre-contract agreement whilst Tierney’s apparent return to Celtic Park looks to be moving in the right direction as he looks to take a pay cut to facilitate the move from Arsenal.

But it seems that despite the recent developments, Greg Taylor has made a decision about his immediate Celtic future despite the red-hot speculation that Kieran Tierney is set to make a dramatic return to Paradise.

Greg Taylor wants to stay at Celtic but there is a catch

According to the Daily Record, Taylor wants to stay at Celtic despite the speculation that his Scotland teammate looks set to return to the club this month.

Taylor reportedly wants to commit to Celtic, at least until the end of the season and is keen to aim to win another treble with Brendan Rodgers.

The report also says that the Celtic defender has a number of suitors from Europe and England ‘keen’ to tie Taylor down on a pre-contract this month.

Whilst this latest development will be welcomed, it still leaves Taylor’s Celtic future hanging in the balance as the 27-year-old has yet to agree a new deal with the Parkhead club.

The obvious warning signs available to Greg Taylor about leaving Celtic for pastures new

Taylor has been at Celtic since 2019 and was, ironically, Tierney’s replacement when he left Paradise for Arsenal.

However, whilst the Hoops left-back explores his options, there are clear and obvious warning signs Taylor should keep in mind as he ponders whether or not to leave Celtic.

David Turnbull decided his future wasn’t at Celtic and decided to leave and join Cardiff City. Since that move 12 months ago, he has made just 29 appearances and has not been in their matchday squad for their last seven fixtures.

Mikey Johnston left Celtic for West Brom in a permanent deal after having a superb loan season with The Baggies. Since then the former Hoops winger has been accused of going ‘AWOL’ as he struggled to make an impact at the start of the season.

Whilst Taylor is well within his rights to look for a better deal, many former Celtic players have found that their careers go on a downward trajectory after leaving Parkhead and that is something he should also take into consideration when deciding his long-term future.
