Kyogo Furuhashi was back amongst the Celtic goals after the MLS ‘transfer’ blunder.

Kyogo was deadly in Celtic’s Ross County win at the weekend after the Japan international bagged a brace to help his team to a 4-1 victory.

However, the Celtic striker was at the centre of a ‘transfer’ story after the US national association announced Kyogo had joined Atlanta United last week.

Celtic manager, Brendan Rodgers was forced to comment on the story as the Hoops boss denied Kyogo was joining Atlanta just before the Bhoys’ trip to Dingwall.

When asked about the Japanese striker after Celtic beat Ross County, Hoops captain Callum McGregor has shared how the talismanic striker is feeling behind the scenes at Celtic Park after the bizarre transfer controversy.

Callum McGregor shares Celtic’s transfer stance on Kyogo Furuhashi

McGregor told the Daily Record, “He’s a top player and has given us so many good memories in such big games. He’s been the difference, he’s been decisive for us.

“I’ve probably run out of superlatives for him, to be honest. But he’s still such a huge and important part of what we’re doing and we’re really lucky to have him as well.

“So I’m sure that the club will want to keep him as long as we can because he’s a huge player for us and, again, in sticky games like this, he can come in and make the difference and that’s what you need for your strikers.”

McGregor was then asked if he felt Kyogo was still happy at Celtic despite recent links to Atlanta United, the Hoops captain says his striker is ‘still giving his all’.

“I think so, aye,” continued the Celtic captain, “He’s scoring goals, he’s still working hard for the team. I don’t know if he’s celebrating more or not, I’m not reading too much into that.

“But anytime I see him train, any time I see him play for the team, he’s still giving his all, so that would suggest that he’s happy and wants to be part of the team.”

Kyogo has been the Hoops’ best striker for a number of years now and his 85 goals since joining the club have helped boost Celtic’s trophy count by eight in three seasons.

At 29, Kyogo is in his prime and will undoubtedly play a huge part in Celtic’s successes this season and beyond.
