Two former Celtic players are aiming to help Como reach the dizzy heights of Europe under Cesc Fabregas.

It’s a bold project Alex Valle and Nicolas Kuhn have undertaken, with the duo playing for Celtic last season, before their respective exits in the winter and the summer.

Valle was on loan at Celtic from Barcelona before his spell was cut short in January, with Kuhn following suit in the summer.

How have the duo, who were popular players during their time at Parkhead, fared in Serie A for a side heavily backed financially and aiming to compete with the elite in Italy despite only earning promotion last season?

How Nicolas Kuhn is faring at Como after Celtic exit

Starting with Kuhn, everyone remembers his stellar performances during the first half of last season that finally saw him burst into life in Glasgow, but then he dipped during the final few months.

The 25-year-old has picked up the same issues in Como as he did when he first joined Celtic, and that’s starting slowly.

Fabregas has started Kuhn in four Serie A games, but from nine matches overall, he is yet to score or register an assist, and was even an unused substitute during Como’s goalless draw against champions Napoli at the start of the month.

The German showed some life when he first started out, but he is struggling to get a grip on proceedings, and it will be interesting to see how things pan out in the coming months.

And how is Alex Valle getting on…

It’s a different story for Valle. He is more settled, after joining in January, and he actually starts regularly at left-back.

You have to question why Celtic let Valle go, and whether the powers that be thought Kieran Tierney would be coming back in January.

Yes, Marcelo Saracchi has been brilliant for Celtic, but Valle would have been the perfect long-term left-back, but for some strange reason, and despite showing real promise in the six months he was at the club, he was sent back to Barca, and this is how he is now getting on at Como.
