Hugh Keevins slams the Celtic board for missing obvious ‘red flag’ with ‘alarming’ transfer window truth bombs

The Celtic board are coming under increasing fire this season and now it seems that Hugh Keevins is joining the queue of critics.

Keevins has a reputation for being Celtic’s harshest critic as the pundit sometimes can be seen to be overly sensationalist with his criticism of the club.

However, at times, Keevins can get things correct, and it seems that on this occasion, the former journalist is bang on the money.

Speaking about Celtic’s decline this season, Keevins takes a pop at the Parkhead board for their role in the transfer dealings that has led to signing players who are ‘mediocre’.

Hugh Keevins tells the Celtic board ‘you reap what you sow’ after transfer window ‘bluff’

Celtic’s transfer business has been the subject of much fan criticism and was the catalyst for the Parkhead supporters’ demonstrations against the board.

And Keevins has told Peter Lawwell and Co that it’s their own fault for trying to get Celtic to ‘bluff their way into the Champions League’.

Keevins told Superscoreboard, “No, as I say, the decline is alarming. The cup final [vs Aberdeen] ought to have been the red flag.

“But they spent the summer refusing to play the market properly, tried to bluff their way into the Champions League, did not replace the quality that had gone out the door.

“The year 2025 has been spent getting rid of absolutely top class Celtic players and replacing them with mediocrity. And now you reap what you sow. Even the cup final wasn’t a wake up call for either Brendan Rodgers or the board, or both.

Keevins warns Celtic ‘are in trouble’ with clear transfer conundrum

Given that Brendan Rodgers is likely to leave Celtic at the end of the season, the January transfer window will come sharply into focus.

With Celtic clearly needing to strengthen, does Rodgers get money to spend with less than six months of his Celtic tenure to go?

Keevins continued, “And Kairat Almaty will live with them for many years to come.

“And now they’re in trouble because they can’t change anything until the January window opens.

“And who would you trust to buy a player for Celtic, given the recent record?”

That is the issue open for discussion. With Rodgers claiming that there are ‘club signings’ in his Celtic team, who is buying the players at Parkhead?

Celtic supporters have long lamented that question and it appears that with January a matter of mere months away, they are about to find out.
