Jota winger is enjoying the learning process at Celtic, and has heralded teammate Tom Rogic after his incisive pass for the winger’s opening goal against Motherwell.

The Benfica loanee, who Celtic could buy permanently, has been a fantastic addition to Ange Postecoglou’s squad. Something of an unknown quantity outside Iberia, the former Portugal youth sensation has quickly become a fan favourite.

For Jota, though, it’s about learning and progressing, he says. He also gave glowing praise to his Australian teammate Tom Rogic.

Jota said [Celtic FC]:

“For sure it was another big victory for us, we were looking to start this new chapter after the international break very good, and we did it with a strong win, and now we are just looking forward to the next games.

“I’m trying to take my opportunities and [be] humble and [try] to learn just as much as I can with the lads, with the coach, with everyone and just be happy on the pitch.

“For sure [Rogic] is someone who can see what others cannot see and that pass just shows his quality and what he can bring to the team. I think we are just getting to know each other very well and that pass and the play was a demonstration of that.”

Jota can become a sensation alongside Tom Rogic at Celtic

With players like Tom Rogic finding him in space, Jota can be a sensation at Celtic. His goal today was excellently-taken, with Rogic providing a beautiful assists to slice the Motherwell defence open.

He’s already scored 3 goals for the Bhoys, and his direct, attacking style perfectly compliments Kyogo and Abada in the front-three.

It’s scary to think how good the trio could get. Alternatively, players like James Forrest and Mikey Johnston are nearing match fitness. Giakoumakis and Ajeti offer different options up front, too.

From having little to shout about up front, Celtic have a range of options available to manager Ange Postecoglou. Especially if the Portuguese winger wants to stay longer-term at Celtic.

Honestly, it sounds like he does. After a frustrating spell with Real Valladolid, Jota is getting plenty of opportunities. He’s immediately built a connection with the supporters, and the manager seems to adore him.

Little wonder why, when he’s putting away tidy finishes like he did today.
