There has been plenty of people having their say on the Ange Postecoglou to Tottenham links. Ex-Celtic players, pundits and journalists have all given their opinion on whether or not they believe the rumours are true or if Ange would leave to head to London.

But did anyone expect Scotland’s First Minister to chip into the debate? Not me. Humza Yousaf was invited onto Clyde 1 to speak about a new initiative called Fan Bank. The new enterprise helps provide funds to football fans that will allow them to buy shares in their local football club.

However, as the First Minister was discussing the subject the conversation moved on to the Ange Postecoglou to Tottenham links. Mr Yousaf joked that he was looking into the possibility of taking Government action to stop Ange from leaving the club.

The First Minister said [Clyde 1 Superscoreboard], “I just asked my entire team to see if there’s anything within my First ministerial powers to stop Ange from leaving Celtic if, of course, the rumours are true.

“Of course, there’s nothing I can do. I would be gutted. Genuinely, I think he’s been a real revelation. Not just as a manager and his tactics but obviously, the players he’s brought in we just would never have got.

“Maeda, Hatate, Kyogo, Oh. Players I just don’t think they would’ve come to the Scottish Premiership if he hadn’t brought them.

“They’ve been an absolute revelation for Celtic.

The First Minister is a huge Celtic fan. He has made no secret of that fact and whilst his comments on Ange were clearly meant as a joke, don’t we all just wish there was something he could do to stop the move if it were to come about?

However, as it stands at the moment, these are just rumours. All that we’ve heard is just paper talk. The Celtic manager is focused on the job at hand and that is to win the Scottish Cup on Saturday to complete a record-breaking domestic treble.
